Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17)
"Live free or die" is more than a patriotic slogan. It's good theology. We simply cannot live 'fully human - fully alive!' as Christ-followers without the power of God the Holy Spirit who truly "sets us free from the power of sin and death." (Romans 8:2) April, May, and June we will be exploring - mostly in Paul's letter to the Romans - what it means to cooperate with God's Spirit...The Spirit who alone can set us free:
free to believe and grow into the likeness of Christ;
free from slavery to sin;
free from addictions of all kinds;
free from trying to do life on our own;
free to pray and endure suffering;
free to worship and serve with new power and freedom;
free to love one another instead of judging;
free from man-made religion and rules
free to be godly citizens and neighbors - in, for, but not of the world.
