Statement of Belief & Practice

Christ Church seeks to be a Compassionate Christian Community....

1 . What Makes Christ Church Distinctive?

  • The focus on keeping Christ central (keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing!)
  • A Passion for Worship
  • Authentic, loving community
  • Biblical and relevant teaching
  • The Structure supports–rather than drives the ministry
  • Change–friendly and Growth–friendly environment
  • Lead-able strong leaders–emphasizing trust and empowerment
  • Flexible, not in a box
  • Our Covenant identity, with it’s solid Core Beliefs and appreciation of diversity and freedom (4 words that describe the Evangelical Covenant: Biblical, Devotional, Missional, and Connectional)
  • Awe and anticipation toward God and what He’s going to do

2. What Are Our Core Values and How Do We Guard Them?

  • More lost people are found; Hurting people are helped (Guarded by being a "safe place" where you can "come as you are;"  caring for the poor and those in need.)
  • Discipleship and Maturity (Guarded by intentional small groups and mentoring)
  • World Missions (Guarded by world vision, personal involvement, partnership with mission agencies)
  • Gift-based Ministries ~ Serving according to our gifts, passion, and uniqueness (Guarded by helping people understand and discern their potential in the church body)
  • Relationships are vitally important; community is fragile (Guarded by encouraging love and resolving conflicts in a godly way.)
  • A Teaching and Learning Community (Guarded by continuous feedback and evaluation)
  • Keeping Christ and the Bible Central (Guarded by quality teaching & preaching by qualified leaders)
  • Authentic and vibrant worship (Guarded by prayerful planning and excellence in leadership)
  • Ministry Coordinators and Team approach to ministry (Guarded by selection of the right leaders)
  • Prayer as a foundation of all we do (Guarded by Prayer at all times and focused times of prayer)
  • Excellence and Intentionality (Guarded by serving mentality and desire for continual improvement)

3. What is Our Vision for the Future?

  • Expanded facilities to provide a "home base" for more ministries.
  • Growing Children’s and Student ministries that impact our communities.
  • Building authentic community through small groups of all kinds; a church “of” small groups that involves everyone.
  • Continued strengthening of family life through ministries of counseling and family care for couples, single parents, divorced, grieving, financial stewardship, recovery needs, etc.
  • Strategically focused World Missions emphasis led by our Missions Leadership Team that builds partnerships and involvement by the congregation on all levels.
  • Expanded Compassion Ministries to the “whole person” here and across cultures.
  • A Regional Church (drawing from a wider number of communities and cultures, being a resource to other churches, etc.)
  • Future Growth through strategies such as multi-site congregations, partnering with other churches, ministries, etc.
