Director of Youth Ministries

Position: Director of Youth Ministry
Reports to: Pastor of Discipleship & SMD
Hours/Type/FLSA Status: 25 hours per week/hourly/ Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The primary role of the Director of Youth Ministry is to build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to Youth Ministry in the areas of Worship, Discipleship, Community, Outreach, and Prayer. The Director will oversee 7-8th grade (Jr. High), 9-12th (Sr. High) and in conjunction with the Director of Children’s Ministry, 5-6th graders. This position will be responsible for sustainable connection, discipleship, and care for students, their parents as well as to young adults.

Reporting Relationships

  • Collaborative relationship with the Sr. Pastor, Children’s Ministry Director, related staff
  • Provides leadership to all youth volunteers

Specific Responsibilities: Student’s Discipleship (5-6th grade in collaboration with Dir. Of Children’s Ministry; 7-8th; 9-12th)

  • I will develop, implement, plan, and oversee an intentional discipleship process/pathway that helps students grow in their relationship to God and with the church family.
    • This includes Wednesday night youth group and any additional discipleship experiences (classes, seminars, etc.)
    • This also includes maintaining the Ministry Center space, materials, and equipment
  • I will be responsible for creating sustainable ministries for discipling students by developing and executing annual goals, objectives, and programs.
  • I will be responsible for implementing a yearly curriculum which includes retreats; mission trips & outreach opportunities. This also includes coordinating a yearly program calendar.
  • I will be responsible for mentoring and equipping adult volunteers and student leaders by identifying and developing them
  • I will be actively developing strategies for reaching students in the Central West Bay area and find time to connect with them outside of church events/groups
  • I will communicate with volunteer staff, parents, and students in a timely and effective manner using multiple forms of media and communication models

     Young Adult Discipleship

  • I will develop, create, and plan events and programs for connection and ministry among young adults

Ministry Oversight

  • I will recruit, manage, train, and schedule paid staff and volunteers for youth ministry programs and events. This includes, but not limited to:
    • background screenings processes (CPP)
    • cleaning protocols
    • overall safety training (allergies, emergencies, & adult requirements)
  • I will work with parents regarding policies and expectations of their involvement and participation

Ministry Related Duties

  • I will attend weekly staff meetings
  • I will communicate improvement needs for Ministry Center to Facility or Leadership Team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or previous experience equivalence (Jr. & Sr. High)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience with youth or related ministry
  • Available to assume additional responsibilities as needed

Director of Children's Ministries

Position: Director of Children’s Ministry
Reports to: Pastor of Discipleship & SMD
Hours/Type/FLSA Status: 20 hours per week/hourly/ Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Director of CCKids Ministry is responsible for the oversight of children’s programs, birth through 4th grade and in conjunction with the Director of Youth Ministry for the 5th/6th graders.  This oversight includes working with paid staff, volunteers, and families participating in this ministry. Provides a vision for CCKids in relation to the vision and mission priorities of Christ Church.

Reporting Relationships

  • Directly supervises paid nursery staff
  • Directly supervises volunteers within the children’s ministry

Specific Responsibilities: Children’s Discipleship

  • I will develop and implement an intentional discipleship process/pathway that helps children grow in their relationship to God and with the church family.
  • I will be responsible for developing a discipling environment within the ministry as to class structure, size, and groups/grades; including supplies and classroom decor
  • I will develop and oversee all programs designed to enhance and encourage families as primary faith educators of their children. This includes, Sunday morning programming, family events, communion and baptism education (along with pastoral staff), and outreach opportunities. This also includes coordinating a yearly program calendar.
  • I will be responsible for developing and implementing a yearly curriculum which includes Bible stories, church traditions & holidays, and significant benchmarks like 1st communion and baptism
  • I will be responsible for all communications of children’s programs, events, and church related activities to children, parents, church staff, and volunteers.

Ministry Oversight

  • I will recruit, manage, train, and schedule paid staff and volunteers for the CCkids programs and events. This includes, but not limited to:
    • background screenings processes (CPP)
    • cleaning protocols
    • overall safety training (allergies, emergencies, & adult requirements)
  • I will work with parents regarding CCkids policies and expectations of their involvement and participation

Ministry Related Duties

  • I will attend weekly staff meetings
  • I will communicate facility upkeep and improvement needs for CCkids to Facility Team Leader or Leadership Team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or previous experience equivalence (Early Childhood preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience with children or related ministry
  • Available to assume additional responsibilities as needed
