Membership at CC

Why Have Church Membership?

The Church is made up of God’s people of all times, places, and cultures. We are also privileged and called to be part of the local expression of the church. Active membership helps to move us from the vagueness of good intentions to committed participation. Membership is a way of saying, “I’m on the team! I share the vision! I’m here to serve with you!”

As Active Members, we take ownership of the healthiness of the church. We live out mutual responsibility and accountability toward one another. The New Testament gives accounts of the church making decisions, affirming gifts and leadership offices, giving to those in need, supporting mission, and exercising good discipline toward those needing correction, reproof, encouragement and restoration. We need one another and membership says, “We are at each others’ disposal. We’re committed to one another!”

The Commitment of the Christ Church Community to You

Spiritual Direction & Discipleship: Pastors, leaders, and others in the church community will provide ways for people of all ages to connect to God. Along with weekly worship services, these ways include practical helps as well as training to equip you for ministry.  We will seek to “shepherd” well, providing pastoral care and counsel, accountability and encouragement as specific needs arise.

Scriptural Integrity: We are committed to the highest quality of Biblical teaching in the context of preaching at worship services and teaching in Bible studies and other gatherings.

Healthy Community: Christ Church is committed to love and support you through providing active ministries, weekly worship services, small group communities, and events and activities where you can connect to others.

Care and Support: We will provide ministries that help care for those who are sick, in need of support or recovery, or in times of crisis.  We desire to help you connect to serving opportunities in the world around us, reflecting God’s concern for the poor, the needy, and the oppressed.  Part of being a compassionate community means “being there for each other” in times of need.

Communication and Participation: The pastoral staff, church staff, and other trained leaders of Christ Church will be a listening and responsive community.  We will work toward resolving any conflicts in a Christ-like way with the goal of restoration and peace.  In accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of Christ Church, and in fellowship with the Evangelical Covenant Church, members will discuss, approve, and affirm major decisions in the life of the church.
